| Description | Ichiriduka were mounds established on both sides of a highway during the Edo period, with 36 towns (about 4 km) in a single ri (about 4 km), starting from Edo Nihonbashi. The mounds were 5 ken (about 9 m) long on all four sides, and enoki trees were mainly planted on top of the mounds. Mibu Ichirizuka is one of the Ichirizuka established along Mibu-dori on Nikko-dochu (Nikko West Road), 23 ri from Edo Nihonbashi. According to legend, the lord of Mibu Castl used to meet the Shogun when he visited Nikko Shrine. |
