| Description | Marishitenzuka tumulus is 117 m long and is known as the third largest burial mound in the prefecture (Azuma tumulus is first and Biwaduka tumulus is second). The burial mound is square in the front and round in the rear , and with a 20-meter wide moat around it, part of which is double-layered. The mound is a two-tiered mound with a diamond-shaped mound with a sharp point in the center of the front part. Based on the shape of the burial mound and the haniwa terra-cotta tombs excavated, it is thought to have been built at the end of the 5th century (about 1,500 years ago). The tomb in the foreground is the Marishitenzuka burial mound. The burial mound on the far side across the road is Biwaduka burial mound, a designated national historic site. |
