| Description | This material is a stripped layers section of residential sites during excavation research. Inside the abandoned pit dwellings, there were discarded shells, fish bones, animal bones and tools. The majority was Yamato-shijimi from fresh water, and there were sea oysters, red sea snails and clams as well. About 6,500 years ago when shell mounds were formed, the sea was entering its ruins due to a mild climate. This shell mound is located on a plateau about 20 meters above sea level, and is located at the innermost part of inner Tokyo Bay in the Early Jomon Period. Period: Early Jomon Period |
